Abstract
To automate the process of breaking up a building into small pieces, it is necessary to discriminate rebars from concrete lumps to remove rebars. This paper proposes a method for discriminating rebar from concrete lumps using Gabor filters. Our discrimination system uses a filter bank consisting of multiple Gabor filters. Using the created filter bank, feature extraction is performed from each segmented region, and the image is classified into rebar and concrete chunks using a support vector machine. The system was run on images of actual rebar and concrete lumps and achieved a discrimination accuracy of 89.4%.
